Names

I realized a few days ago that I have not informed my dedicated blog readers how we came up with the names for our boys. The whole process of picking out names was actually difficult for us! It was very easy for us to come up with girl names, but when we found out there were two boys, we had a challenge placed before us! We wanted strong names that had good meaning behind them.

About the second week of December, Zach's brother Tyler was talking with us about what to name our boys. He knew that we were keeping any possible names a secret, but he did want to throw his 2 cents in. He told us that if he had a boy, he would name him William. When Tyler died later on that month, both Zach and I knew that if we had a boy we would name him William. We found out in January that we were having two boys...so the name journey continued...

The name Levi didn't really come about until the last couple months of the pregnancy. It had always been mentioned, but only after a few other names had been talked about. We both thought the name Levi was a strong name that was unique...but not too unique! It just stuck.

Now for the middle names...

Tyler Blake Sheets was partly named by Zach! Zach was about 10 when Tyler was born, and he thought of the middle name Blake. We wanted to give some of Tyler to each of the boys, so Levi received Tyler's middle name. Levi Blake Sheets.

Will Cotton Sheets. If you haven't noticed yet, Will's middle name could be the brunt of many jokes. But we are hoping that people will think it's cool...and not make fun of him. I think Zach's dad always wanted a Cotton Sheets, but somehow he got out of it...Only to hand down that desire to his eldest son! Throughout most of the pregnancy, I spent time trying to talk Zach out of naming one of our boys Cotton Sheets. I thought I had succeeded, until about a month away from delivery. We were driving to church one Sunday morning and Zach blurted out "William Cotton Sheets!". We had not discussed Cotton as a middle name yet, and I had to admit at that point that Will Cotton Sheets was a pretty cool name! Zach won.

Of course, a couple of pictures to wrap up this blog! Here is how these boys sleep. So cute!

Look at those sweet boys! Kara, you are one of the only women who would be comfortable with naming their child Cotton. And I love that about you!

Great names and I still think it's cute how you ended up with Cotton and, if you let your mind roam a minute, Denim Sheets (Levi-Denim, a stretch but not much of one!). We love you two and adore your boys.
