Santonio.

If you remember, I had a post requesting some suggestions for a getaway location for Zach and me. We have not been a trip with just the two of us since....well....since our honeymoon! We have had wonderful opportunities to travel a LOT, but it has been with family members. Sooo....I have been trying to plan a getaway for just the two of us.

Thank you, thank you for all of your suggestions! I checked out every one of the websites, and found myself trying to book each of the places for separate trips! They all sounded and looked AMAZING! Seriously people, there was this one place in Costa Rica that looked like my vision of heaven. Then the lights and shows of Vegas sounded like so much fun! Alaska would be a dream come true, and even Arkansas (erin!) had it's perks!

But a few days ago I purchased a gift for Zach that determined our getaway location.

Around the 16th hour of driving in two days (over our Christmas vacation), Zach turned down the music and made a very official announcement. He said, 'Ryan Adams is my favorite musician.' By the way, this was HUGE! Zach is a lover of music, and he has never really been able to say who his favorite band, song, musician, writer, etc. is. But Ryan Adams has won him over.

So, I secretly checked online, and Ryan Adams will be playing in San Antonio in March. It's perfect! Zach loves San Antonio and he loves Ryan Adams!

Although it is no tropical paradise and it's lights are not visible from space, I am very excited about San Antonio. I was having a hard time justifying spending lots of money for a 'vacation' when all I need is a little break from 'mommy duties', with my hubby by my side, and some good entertainment.

Santonio: here we come!... in a couple of months

I attended a conference a few years ago in San Antonio and stayed at this BEAUTIFUL hotel downtown! It might have been called St. Anthony's? If you need to know, I can research it. I just remember these big brass beds with big mattresses and fluffy pillows! Aahhh~ :)

Be sure to read up on Rosarios restaurant in the downtown area. It's delish mex cuisine and beats the heck out of the food on the riverwalk. It's even been featured in Southern Living Magazine.......and Big Mama says that it's her fav too. Chicken enchiladas with crema fresca and corn!!!!!!

ok, so, about the place in Costa Rica that I suggested (that I can only assume is the one you mentioned). uh, yeah, so we had an earthquake here that was not far from where we are living, and that resort area took a beating. the earthquake, if you hadn't heard, was a 6.2 on the scale, and while the resort would have been a beautiful (and possibly still could be) place to go, you chose well! there were some landslides near there, and there were several tourists that were stranded. even though that would have made for a good story once you were home, i'm not sure it would have been worth it all. :-) GO SA!

ok, our podunk town had NOTHING on the news about the earthquake...and that's a big one!
i am glad we chose SA over CR. yikes! but i still want to go to CR...but it will have to wait...
