C. to be a humble person with a sober view of himself while still affirming his value, he will have more fun with his own name than anyone else will ever have with it. I thank my parents for naming me as they did. People rember me because they can't forget my name. I have always been so proud of going by a unique name that I have felt urged to ensure its good reputation. My goofy name has actually helped me remain cognizant of, and be realistic about, who I am and who I am not.The Free Treehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03052186295354674496noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17546265.post-62044185009167543712008-03-06T14:37:00.000-08:002008-03-06T14:37:00.000-08:00i vote cotton.i vote cotton.megshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10273967426577153065noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17546265.post-82163255433873935142008-03-06T05:59:00.000-08:002008-03-06T05:59:00.000-08:00Since I have called him Will since the moment he w...Since I have called him Will since the moment he was born, it's hard to imagine him NOT being "Will" (or Will-Bear). However, I like "Cotton" also and absolutely believe he will be strong enough and easy going enough to fit into that name also. So, go with whichever name you want just as long as you know that when he is in trouble, his name will definitely be "William Cotton"!Kathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17470151389714894627noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17546265.post-12357439303324052102008-03-05T21:20:00.000-08:002008-03-05T21:20:00.000-08:00Greetings from the last frontier of Alaska ~ yes, ...Greetings from the last frontier of Alaska ~ yes, "Iron Will" was an awesome movie and Ethan Hawke, was too ~ I do believe your son will 'respect' you if he were to be called "Will"... it's not always abt what a 'parent' wants but what 'he' is all abt as a person...!AK Angelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02090279010879335211noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17546265.post-90634804573335999852008-03-05T13:42:00.000-08:002008-03-05T13:42:00.000-08:00Cotton may be cute now but later it might not be. ...Cotton may be cute now but later it might not be. He had the most beautiful white hair, and I always wondered if Cotton was his real name or a nick name because of the hair. Guess I'll never know. All that to say, I do think Cotton can be a very dignified name. I, however, will have to continue calling him Will because of an emotional scar from the 5th grade involving a presentation on the ins and outs of cotton farming and a mean boy who made fun of the way I said "cotton"...although I'm sure I did sound very Texan. Cotton Sheets doesn't sound "ridiculous". It is unique and cool. It is memorable. He would probably be the cool kid. People already call him Cotton including some of our senior huddle kids who happen to be cool. And if you are going to put that choice of "Why on earth would you consider calling your kid Cotton?" You need to add, "Why on earth would you consider not calling him the cool name of Cotton?"Zach Sheetshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15101587897821342679noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17546265.post-89345766631740434862008-03-05T06:43:00.000-08:002008-03-05T06:43:00.000-08:00This comment has been removed by the author.Zach Sheetshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15101587897821342679noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17546265.post-10522656328954431412008-03-05T06:39:00.000-08:002008-03-05T06:39:00.000-08:00This comment has been removed by the author.Zach Sheetshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15101587897821342679noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17546265.post-80262606929686140192008-03-05T06:38:00.000-08:002008-03-05T06:38:00.000-08:00I think it could go either way. BUT....I have to say that you and Zach are so comfortable in your skin and so laid back with who you are, that I can't see being made fun of for that being such a big deal. Kids are going to make fun of something anyway. I think that if HE loves it, then that's great. I started calling Parker "Wee Wee" when she was little because in my family that means little. Just this year, she has mentioned that she doesn't want me to call her that in front of her friends. So when Will/Cotton is old enough, he will let you know. I think you/Zach should call him the name that each of you love or think of him as. It might be different for both of you. AND especially if it is in a time of loving, there is no way that he will feel like it is a bad name. You never know. In Kindergarten, he might want to ONLY be called Cotton. Am I even helping????

I vote for which ever name YOU love. At this point that is all you have to go on. I STILL call Parker Wee Wee EVERY day, and she KNOWS that it is HER love name from me.

OK. I am leaving it at that before I write a book.

PS.I VOTE FOR COTTON!!Nicolehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14644291489793513637noreply@blogger.com
